Running Noses...

It's just the normal routine, dropping mei mei at Auntie Susan's house, then headed to market with Joel and grandma. Joel and I was seated at the coffee shop eating breakfast, and grandma was doing some marketing.

Joel was happily playing and munching some alphabet biscuits which we just bought, and I just picked up "N" and asked "Joel, what alphabet is this?".

Joel answered "N, mummy, N for nose."

I put down the biscuit and replied "Well done Joel!"

Then he continued "My nose is very fast mummy!"( I wondered why)

"My nose can run very fast mummy! My nose and mummy's nose can run fast!"

Duhz, Thats Why!! "Fast Running nose" Why didn't I think of that!!? I almost choked on my kway chap!!

He's not so friendly!! ...

I still recall vividly....

It was on 18th May, late late Sunday evening. After almost a day of "wartime" with 3 kids, I decided to "chill out" a little and spend some quality time with just Joel. I asked of Lele and Sam to lookout for the twins, while I brought Joel out to run some errands. (Gosh imagine bringing a pre-schooler to go marketing is considered a chillout! How pathethic)

After the errand, Joel and I passed by the playground just downstairs on the way home. He spotted two kids there, and was eager to join them. He asked" Can we go there! (Pointing to the playground), it would be fun!! I promised!!" That's his exact words, and I could see his eyes sparkling with delight! As I promised him "quality time" , I stopped the stroller that he was sitting in, and let him alight. He ran to the slides, and was smiling happily to the boy whom was just perhaps a year older. The boy apparently showed no interest in interacting with him, and Joel still kept on trying to befriend. However, after a few tries, Joel suddenly ran to me, holding me and said "He's not so friendly..." . I could see the disappointment in his eyes, and he's almost bursting into tears. What could I do??

"No Joel, he should be fine, you just need to say hello!" And there Joel went again, this time, he succeeded. With a few hello's, the other boy finally acknowledged, and my guess was right...my son was blabbering to him in English. And the other child( Whom is more fluent in Mandarin) was initally confused and did not react. "Hello" being the international language, broke the ice and ended up seem to be the only word they had in common.

Two things noted:
1. Joel needs to learn more Mandarin.
2. My boy has grown!! And has learnt to acknowledged how other's feel! He's not just a toddler anymore! More challenge to come....

Why arent there 36 hours a day?

It's just 3rd day of "no-work", still not quite adjusted. It's been 3 days with nothing accomplished!!

Perhaps I should really start planning what I need to do. Something more constructive. Sending out more resumes, spending more time with kids, and finally , starting up that business thingy. Hey!! MZ Read this!! And please lets exchange a kick in the butt!! We should get started.

Then again, there's 3 kids!! 4 hrs per kid a day, that'll make 12, half day gone! n leaving just another 12 hrs remaining for eating, sleeping and miscellaneous. Gosh!! Why arent there 36hrs a day! It's just not enough! I barely have time for housekeeping, job hunting and home biz! Else, the activities would be vice versa. Sigh.

Lastly.......where should I start.....hmmmm.

Finally Outz....

Finally!! The time has come.... My Last Day of Work!!

I am surprised to realise it's easier to adapt to the old routine of getting back to work. Waking up in the wee hours even before the sun, and getting ready for work. Then rushing back from work to gather back all the logistics, hurry past dinner then settle home for the day.

Now that my contract has ended, I realised it's another change to adapt again, back to home making, spending time with kids, and more importantly perhaps to consider what's next again!

LOST would be the first word or i'd say, question? What? How? When? What should I do next? How could I go about spending my next weeks or months? When would be my next job opportunity?

I am really worried beyond worried, if I would be stuck for months with no job, if there's no further calls for interviews, then how? I guess now it's the test HE is putting me through, test of our faith in HIM.

Back to my packup. I don't know if it's same for everyone that's gone through the stage or was it me. However, honestly, since I was back a month n a half ago, I'd been having this strange feeling that I don't belong anymore. No busy work discussions, fellow colleagues are just brushing past my desk moving on to the next desk bustling with discussions. Gosh! I feel like an antique!! Lastly, was it my mind playing tricks? Are some of the folks a little drifting off to a distance, embarrassed if they'd somehow show that they are feeling sorry for me losing my job? Or is it my ego playing tricks? Or worse, would I be judged as not performing thus finally losing my job? Complicated and confused, I guess I'd just focus on packing up, sending my farewell messages, and walking out from my desk, bidding some neighbours one last good bye.

No matter what, GOD please at least let me walk out in your grace and teach me how to be positive to what you've given me.

I hate to admit it, I miss working already.

Guilt of a mother ...

Finally! An accomplishment! At least for little old me.

It's such a common trival matter! So what's the fuss about? My babies have parted from sleeping with me for 5 consecutive nights!

If it had not been due to Joel down with flu for so many days, I would still be insisting to have the twins in the same room with us every night, and me waking up now and then to "strategically" shift the babies from bouncers after feed to bed n the "sarong", then back to bouncers again after feeds, all just because there's insufficient bed space for everyone.

Yaya, it sounded so tiring and messy. But I guess it's all efforts for me to salvage however much motherly effort I had to give, and ensure they are safe and sound asleep every night. Putting them with the maid would make me feel that I am not fulfilling my duty as a mother as we are already spending our days in the offices. And I would feel like I am shutting the two little babies out from us, shuffing them with the maid! Yet......health n age is also catching up for me. So much so, I am having stys on both my eyes, at first the right, and now the left!!!Toxic toxic....

Maybe I should work out a system with the maid on the sleeping arrangement to strike a balance, so that we all get some rests and I won't feel so guility.

Two Phutak Trees

It was a hot stuffy afternoon on 16th April, and I was sitting before a notebook working in mum's house.

Joel was behind me, standing on the sofa looking out of the window at a tree that was just pruned earlier in the day. He was mumbling to himself again, this time something about a "phutak tree". As I turned around to ask him what was he looking at, he pointed to his "phutak tree" ,which I realised was the pruned tree with most branches shortened and barely any leaves left. Then he shared that there's two "phutak trees". (Which meant "Botak" as in bald).

When I asked him where is the second "phutak tree", he quickly got down from the sofa and ushered me "Mummy, come .....follow me!". He pulled me to the hall and looked out of the window facing the same direction, and pointed " There! Mummy, there's TWO PHUTAK TREES! " Argh! He meant the same "Phutak tree" but out of two different windows!

Isn't he innocent!

Green poop!!!

If there's anyone out there that ever encountered or heard of green poop from babies or toddlers after the little one's received a scare, it's not a myth! And here goes my encounter ...

There's an old folk's saying in Chinese "Ork yan mo dam" meaning fierce people gets frightened easily. Haha, and that definitely applies for my two month old baby girl, Noelle. Just Monday morning, I was cleaning her green poop as she had a scare from my mishandling during her bath the day before. While changing her green poop covered diapers, her left heavy baby fat coated leg slipped from my hand and landed just about 15cm down on the bed she was lying.

Guess what!! That short casual drop gave her another scare!! I could see her swinging her two chubby arms in the air, eyes suddenly stared open wide and bursting into "ai ai ai". That's how she sound whenever she cries ( Quite unique actually, haha).

Guess what! The nanny reported green poop again on Tuesday morning from Noelle!! Haha!

Save a penny but lost a pound!!

It was a sunny bright Saturday, and I thought it would be just like the past few weekends. Just drowned in chores and the 3 babies.

Nah..., hubby sauntered into the hall in his messy hair asking me to hurry as we are going to rush down to Philips showroom to get my breastpump parts replaced, and we only have 1.5hrs to make it!! (As my 2 pcs of 3 yr old pumps have both gone on strike with faulty parts.)

We hurriedly packed up and left the house with Joel and baby Noelle, and of cos not forgetting Joel's PSP. Joel, as usually, left with us in glee as he's been in "confinement" with me for past months, and any ride in "papa's car" would be a real treat!

On arriving, Joel was running around the showroom chasing another kid, with PSP in one hand. Sam and I were both busy negotiating with the sales rep whether we could get a replacement at a better pricing. Little did we notice, our dear little "monkey" had casually left the PSP on one of the rack in the middle of his chase. It's only after I had queued to pay up, that I heard papa asking Joel in a stern voice "Where's the PSP?"

We repeated the question to Joel umpteenth times, and his angelic innocent looking face seems nonchalant to what had happened, and what would be the consequences. He finally broke down into tears after we explained, "No more PSP, daddy and mummy don't have it anymore."

Sigh, penny wise pound foolish. We saved some on the pump, but.......we lost the PSP!! Lesson learnt, NEVER TRUST LITTLE ONES WITH EXPENSIVE TOYS!!

Hmm....perhaps someone should really invent a device detonator with a remote activater. Haha....

How it all started ...

This blog site is a start in celebration of two new babies to our family, named Ethan and Noelle who are just two mins apart in birth.

With their addition to the family, we had learnt alot along the way. Especially who are the ones that would be there for you through weals and woes. This has indeed posted a test to the strength of the relationships amongst friends and family.

Yes, you might be wondering "So what with two newborns? How difficult could it be? Why the need for such a fuss?"

The learning is, having two cranky/colicy babies, together with an active, curious, sometimes jealous 3 yr old toddler under one roof is beyond just myself and husband can manage. This would be a blog to also share and look back to some of the fun and challenges we had encountered, and hope this would be helpful information to families expecting new borns, especially twins.

Would like to make a deep felt thanks to the families and friends that have contributed so much of their valuable time and effort in helping us tide through these period. Especially to my mummy dearest whom has graciously sacrifised even her sleep to help look after Ethan for these past month.

Special Thanks to my bubbly hubby that has made these times more tolerable and fun! And thank you so much for pulling me along through the periods of depression(By turning your back and walk away to let me tear in peace! Haha)

We'll have so much more sunny bright days ahead with the kids!

Getting Started ....

It took me awhile to decide on where to start my blog, content of the blog site, and how should the layout be? As usual, too much of a thinker, then to just let the hands take over.

Eventually, I decided to just let the information flow, and just jump onto any bandwagon that facilitates the services free. Thus, here goes nothing.

Do keep coming back and click away!!
